More about Hamta
Hamta (also spelt as "Hampta") valley is a remarkable region in Manali. It is a basecamp and the beginning point of the famous “Hamta Pass” Trek. In the past, Hamta valley was a mere passage for shepherds and horse-herders to travel between Kullu and Spiti Valley. But now, it has become one of the popular trekking destinations. At a height of 4400 meters, Hamta pass is a blissful and transcending trek that takes you along Jobri, Chandra River and the beautiful meadows of Chikka, Jwaara, Balu ka ghera, Sheogra and Chatru. It is a small passageway that connects Manali in Kullu valley and Chandratal in Lahaul & Spiti valley.
As per Wikipedia, the name of pass has come from Hamta Village located right below Sethan Village. Along with seasonal trekkers you will find shepherds seeking high altitude grasslands in summer too.
Hamta valley is also known for rock bouldering festival, near Panduropa and Sethan village which is just 3 kms from our property. Sethan is also a hot-spot for Skiing, Snowboarding, Igloos, snow drives, tube rides, snow trek, Expeditions like Deo Tibba, Indrasan and hikes to Sethan dome, Hamta Pass, Deotibba base, hamta circuit, sethan day hike, hamta snow trek and much more.
Hamta Village is famous for its breath-taking view and tranquillity, as its away from all the hustle-bustle and traffic of Manali. You get a stunning view of Manali villages, too, because its 600 meters above Manali. At night, all the villages from Manali to Kullu glitters like stars in the sky, which is why it’s a perfect destination for Night-photography, Astro-photography and Stargazing.
